This was a test using a fighter plane I threw together and BD Armory weapons and flight AI. I was testing high thrust vs. low thrust. The video is filmed from the perspective of the "high thrust" plane. It had two turbo jets, where the "low thrust" plane had two basic jet engines. Both planes had the same aerodynamic properties. Results: -Turbo jets produce more heat, meaning it takes a lot of flares to evade missiles. -Turbo jets allow the plane to take off slightly sooner, but it had no noticeable effect on the fight. -Turbo jets are significantly less efficient, meaning shorter flight time, or heavier planes at take off (countering the speed bonus). -Neither displayed a clear advantage when dogfighting.
